Hand held radio help, Please

Well, I've been loading up on PMs to the point that I can shift my focus to preps.

I remember reading a thread here about Motorola radios that have a "scrambler" on it so it was difficult to locate. The feds asked Motorola not to make it.

Anyone remember what the model # was?

I did a search for Motorola in the prep forum, and came up with Andy's deals of the week, but it did not address the "scrambler" feature.

Any help would be greatly appreciated and also what you all think is the best one to have. Looking to spend $200 or less.

Thanks
The Great Ag

Being a ham radio operator, and electronic tech, the scrambling systems available on the market are:

1. INVERTED SPEECH
2. DIGITAL SPEECH WITH CODE
3. DIGITAL SPEECH WITH A ROLLING CODE

First Off, Inverted Speech is the most common and you can even buy it with a GMRS or Marine Radio with an inversion scrambler installed! However, it is so simple to convert that is not even funny but the other types are restricted by LEO and other 3 letter FED types.

Study your radio options and choose accordinally, scrambling on the airwaves will bring unwanted attention and simpler methods abound for hiding your radio transmissions in plain sight. As a ham Radio Op, I can tell you that there ain't nothing on the street the feds can't take apart QUICKLY, in the TSHF situation code words work best and appear to be harmless. Google Ham Radio and learn about the airwaves and how to use them. I can hide in plain sight!

Google "Ham Radio Fox Hunting" and see why scrambling messages is a bad idea on most levels.

Best to hide in plain site like he says.
